Onomatopee is proud to collaborate with artist Susanne Khalil Yusef on two special editions that raise funds in support of Palestine: the publication A Mouthful of the People – Voice of Palestine and the limited-edition risograph print Detail of Mural.
Both works combine artistic practice with collective remembrance and direct support for Palestinian initiatives. All proceeds (minus production costs) from the publication and RISO print are donated to Plant een Olijfboom. They are a Dutch foundation that supports Palestinian farmers and communities through olive tree planting, sustainable agriculture, and projects that help protect Palestinian land and livelihoods.
About Susanne Khalil Yusef
Susanne Khalil Yusef is a Palestinian artist born 1984 in Germany to a family of refugees from Jaffa. In search of a safe place to build up a life, they have lived across several european countries before settling in the Netherlands. Yusef studied at St. Joost School of Art & Design in ’s Hertogenbosch, earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Fine Art. Yusef creates immersive, colorful installations by combining a wide range of media such as murals, textiles, sculptures and performance, for which she regularly collaborates with friends, musicians and researchers. Her work explores themes of Palestinian identity, forced migration, and colonial violence, drawing on research into her family history and experiences she had in Palestine. Yusef was a resident at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam (2022–2024), her work is held in various public collections; and in 2025 she unveiled her first permanent public sculpture in Amsterdam.
