Systems & Territories

Systems & Territories

Curated by Silvia Franceschini

Systems and Territories is a five-year research program exploring how regimes of governance shape territories.

The program centers on monographic and thematic exhibitions, emerging from long-term investigations and collaborations between artists, researchers and communities critically examining categories, structures and ideologies upholding global modernity. How does geopolitics intersect with themes like decolonization, gender, infrastructure and labor?

Artists foreground care and repair as essential lenses through which to uncover the hidden textures, rhythms, ecologies and atmospheres of the systems which sustain us. They engage with reparation not just as a theme but as a practice addressing inequalities, environmental toxicities, and fragmentations of ways of life. Their methods are rooted in stories of movement, acts of inheritance, and deep knowledge of lands and seas.

The exhibitions are accompanied by a series of publications and public programs, serving as platforms for interdisciplinary methodologies employing various media and exploring political imaginaries for the future.
