The Rise and Fall of Teun the Raccoon

Critical Storytelling Sessions with Bruno Baietto
October 24 and 25th, during Dutch Design Week 2025
Free entry - register through this form here.
Join us for a two-day critical storytelling workshop designed for practicing designers at different stages of their careers. Through collaborative play, writing, and improvisation, participants are invited to reflect on the current status of the design profession through the tragicomic tale of Teun the Raccoon, a designer navigating the fragile ecosystem of the creative industries.
About the Event
Over the course of seven improvised scenes, participants will embody, write, and perform the world of Teun, a raccoon-turned-designer of collectible objects who creates and dreams his way through ambition, delusion, and collapse. Each scene will unfold collectively, generating dialogue, reflections, and small artifacts that will later be adapted into a collective written short film script where participants of these sessions will become co-authors.
When
October 24 - The Rise: Scenes 1-3 (13:30-17:30)
October 25 - The Fall: Scenes 4 -7 (13:30-18:30)
Max 1h 20 min per scene.
Participants
Min 3, max 4 participants per scene, playing 8 different characters across the story.
You can join specific time slots if you can’t attend the full session.
Where
Onomatopee Projects: Lucas Gasselstraat 2a, 5613 LB Eindhoven
How It Works
Participants are invited to embody a character and complete the objective of different scenes. Characters are distributed by scene, Teun’s muses and mentors to fellow designers and curators. Teun and other characters will be portrayed by a different participant in each scene, allowing multiple interpretations to unfold. Together, we will discuss and solve scenarios that reflect our own experiences and encounters within the design profession, while completing the full arc of a single story developed across the two days.
Note! The sessions will be recorded for documentation. Please be aware of this and consent to your voice and/or image being recorded for documentation purposes.

Open Dialogue: Who is Paying for This?

Thursday, 23 October, 3–5PM — Free Entry
Hosted by Baltan Laboratories, Onomatopee & BAK Basecamp for Tactical Imaginaries
As part of Baltan Laboratories’ takeover during DDW25, Onomatopee invites you to join an open dialogue on the shifting realities of cultural work today. In a landscape marked by funding scarcity, institutional precarity, and rapid change, this conversation asks a pressing question: who is paying for this? — and, just as importantly, who gets to decide what is valued?
This session brings together cultural practitioners, artists, and institutional representatives to collectively explore strategies for survival and solidarity. We will look at how cultural spaces and creative workers can sustain themselves through mutual support, shared infrastructures, and new forms of collaboration that challenge existing hierarchies and economic models.
The discussion will build on themes emerging from Baltan’s residency and Onomatopee’s exhibition How to enter from the exit, which reimagines institutions as living, adaptive systems shaped by collective practice. Together with BAK’s Basecamp for Tactical Imaginaries, we’ll open space for exchange, reflection, and action — seeking ways to make culture more resilient, equitable, and interdependent.
Join us for a conversation that bridges reflection and practice, and be part of shaping the next steps toward more sustainable cultural futures.
Date: Thursday, 23 October
Time: 15:00–17:00
